DIY Mindfulness Flashcards for Children, Made With Cricut

These DIY mindfulness flashcards for kids, made with Cricut, are a tool that parents and caregivers can use to help children cope with their worries and process emotions.

I cannot think of anybody who doesn’t have good reason to be stressed right now. At a time when everyday stresses are compounded with the universal stresses caused by a global pandemic, parents and caregivers are worried not only about their own anxiety, but that of the children in their care.

I made these mindfulness flashcards with the help of my Cricut Maker and Cricut Joy cutting machines. (You don’t need both machines. I’ll explain further.) The idea is to create a whole set of flashcards so that when kids are feeling stressed, hurt or angry, they can grab a card at random and perform the activities that the card suggests.

5 Top Cricut Maker Projects (To Keep, Gift Or Sell)

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

Y'all know I love my Cricut Maker. And I love to share with you just how easy it is to use Cricut Maker and Cricut Design Space to make fun and useful projects for your family, friends and loved ones. Of course you can also create Cricut Maker projects to sell if you so choose.

When you open up Cricut Design Space you'll see that there are hundreds of ready projects that you can make as shown or modify to suit your tastes or theme (party theme anyone?). Looking back at the past year or so and all of the Cricut Maker projects I've completed, I found 5 projects in particular to have been popular with readers. I thought I'd share a roundup of those top 5 Cricut Maker projects here to provide some crafting inspiration for those of you who have been on the fence about buying a Cricut Maker or those of you who find their Cricut Maker gathering dust on a shelf. These Cricut Maker projects range from very simple to a little more complex (ie. sewing projects, because I am no seamstress!). They are all totally doable for any skill level though.

25 Personalized DIY Holiday Gifts To Make With Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

25 Personalized DIY Holiday Gifts To Make With Cricut Maker or Explore Air 2

Over the years, my favourite Christmas gifts have been handmade gifts from my children. When they were little ones, they would come home from school with adorable holiday crafts for us - a Nativity scene made with paper characters inside a painted clementine crate, angels made with clothes pegs and paper ornaments with their school photos pasted to them.

Now that my kids are teenagers, they use money earned at their jobs to buy me candles and chocolates and other goodies. And I love all these gifts, I really do. A parent can't help but miss the personalized, handmade gifts given from tiny hands though. Fortunately my kids are also old enough now to craft personalized holiday gifts with our Cricut Maker. So they (and I) can make a multitude of thoughtful gifts that speak to the interests and characteristics of the gift recipients.

The holiday season is almost here and it certainly can't hurt to get some shopping done right away. We all know how horribly overwhelming it gets when you have a long list of gifts to buy and you have to head to the mall in the crazy busy days before Christmas. (For me personally, it seems that no matter how good my intentions, I end up needing at least a few gifts and stocking stuffers on Christmas Eve.)

This Cricut gift guide is intended to help the new crafter or DIY enthusiast as well as the experienced crafter who is new to Cricut machines. (Even if you are an experienced Cricut user, you might enjoy reading my list of Cricut necessities and maybe adding your own recommendations in the comments section.) This gift guide is for the person who wants to add items to their wish list for others to buy, as well as the person who plans to introduce somebody else to new crafting treasures. How To Make Personalized Gifts With Cricut Maker and Aluminum Sheets

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

There's nothing so sweet as a handmade gift during the holidays. Whether it's a hand-drawn card from a child, a set of crocheted dish cloths or a festively wrapped package of homemade cookies, a thoughtfully prepared gift beats a store-bought gift any day. Having a Cricut Maker gives you an advantage in the handmade gifts department, with endless opportunities to make cute personalized gifts that speak to the interests and characters of the recipients.

My husband is a music lover (and he's got the guitar collection to prove it). He has snagged a little room in the basement - a bit of a man cave if you will - in which to hang out with his guitars, plug in his amp and blast out some tunes. I thought I'd use Cricut's new engraving tool on an aluminum sheet to make him a personalized sign or door plaque for his little music "studio." I'm going to show you how to do it, in case you have a music lover in your family too. Of course, you can engrave any names, images or words onto the aluminum sheet, so this gift works for those who love dance, cooking, dogs or anything else!

Tea + Read Book Club T-Shirts and Coasters, Plus How To Use Cricut Infusible Ink

*This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.*

Some people have book club meetings centred on wine and hors d'oeuvres and I have no objection to that. Sounds like a good time. I and my book club gals are self-proclaimed tea grannies though. There are only three of us but we sure do make a lot of (vegan) goodies to enjoy with our tea (and sometimes coffee). See our wonderful brunch spread in this post. Sarah makes the most incredible tofu omelette and Connie's scones cannot be beat. But I digress. To celebrate our love of books and tea, I wanted to make some personalized DIY t-shirts with our own little slogan - I thought Tea+Read would be fitting. I also put our new "logo" on Cricut Infusible Ink coaster blanks too, because tea. If you would like to make these projects or learn how to use Cricut Infusible Ink transfer sheets in general, please read on.

Easy DIY Treat Bags With Cricut Iron-On

I saw these small colourful striped treat bags at the dollar store and I just had to do something with them. They are so cute and cheery and just $2 for three little bags! With Easter quickly approaching, I decided they would make fitting goody bags for sweets and treats. But I didn't want them to be too Easter-specific - I wanted the kids to be able to re-use them to store small things on their desks or in their drawers or backpacks.

Plus, I wanted to show you guys how they could be used as loot bags for birthday parties or any special occasion where you want to have guests walk away with a small goody bag. Of course, you could just as easily use them to store craft supplies, marbles, paper clips, business cards or any other small items. Simply adjust your iron-on wording accordingly!

DIY Reversible Floral Tote Sewing Project (& Cricut Maker FAQ)

I wouldn't call myself a sewer by any means. That's part of the reason I was so eager to get a Cricut Maker - the Maker takes care of the cutting part of the sewing equation and that's one big step towards effective completion of a sewing project. Cricut Maker cuts fabric without the need to apply a stabilizer. It also cuts much thicker materials, like chipboard. Check out my "She's Crafty" chipboard sign, the first project I made with my new Cricut Maker.

My second project had to involve sewing, because I was eager to test out the Maker's fabric-cutting capabilities. And Cricut actually sells little bundles of beautiful, coordinating fabrics, making it easy to pick the three fabrics required for this DIY Reversible Floral Tote. (Read on to see the reverse side of my tote.) If you would like to make your own tote bag or gift one to a friend, here's how it's done...

She's Crafty DIY Chipboard Sign and How To Use The Cricut Maker Knife Blade

*This post contains sponsored product and affiliate links. All opinions are authentic and my own. If you make a purchase after following an affiliate link, Woman in Real Life may earn a small commission. Your price is not affected.

I've been coveting the Cricut Maker cutting machine since it was launched a year ago. Yes I have the Cricut Explore Air and I love it (and will continue to love it). But Cricut Maker offers up more cutting options. It has a fast mode for up to 2x faster cutting and writing and an Adaptive Tool System™ for professional-level cutting performance.

The tools that work with Cricut Maker include a knife blade, which makes it possible to cut thicker materials (up to 2.4 mm) including chipboard. So, for my first project with my new Cricut Maker, I decided to go with a fun chipboard sign for my craft wall (which doesn't actually exist yet - this will act as a motivator).
