Eating Vegan in London, Ontario (Our Road Trip)

You know darn well that any time we are travelling anywhere at all, I am googling for vegan food at our destination. Until this past weekend, it had been two decades since I'd been to London, Ontario. I got my master's degree in journalism at Western University over 20 years ago. Holy cow!

I always liked London. We walked pretty much everywhere and it was lovely to walk along the Thames River (usually to get vegetarian wraps at Sammy's Souvlaki). London is actually where my husband and I first became vegetarians. With our own apartment came the responsibility of preparing our own food. We decided then and there that we would never prepare something that had once had a face. It's different when somebody else prepares meat for you. The first time I pulled the little bag of weird stuff (giblets?) from a whole chicken I knew that eating animals wasn't for me. Fortunately my husband agreed, and we have been vegetarians ever since.

Gilmore Girls and a $50 gift card giveaway

I was lucky enough to get a few special treats for Christmas this year. I always ask for chocolate, organic body wash, a scented candle and a chick flick. This year, I mentioned to my husband that I would like to re-watch Gilmore Girls. I started watching that particular TV show a few years in, so I am eager to go back and start from the beginning. My husband got me three of the seven seasons for Christmas, but he wasn’t able to find the first season.

Fitness Fuel

I talked before about how motivating exercise can be. I like to exercise first thing in the morning when my energy level is highest. Unfortunately, I am not always hungry right away in the morning. So, I have concocted a pre-gym smoothie recipe to fuel my exercise endeavours. It's also great to give to the kids to prepare them for a busy day at school.

I also wanted to share with you some more songs from my workout playlist. I'm still looking for more suggestions for when I tire of these ones!

"Sabotage" - The Beastie Boys
"Everlong" - Foo Fighters
"Welcome to the Jungle" - Guns N' Roses
"Freedom" - Rage Against The Machine
"Bad Moon Rising" - Creedence Clearwater Revival
"Paint It Black" - The Rolling Stones
"Just Can't Get Enough" - Depeche Mode
"Big In Japan" - Alphaville
"Been Caught Stealing" - Jane's Addiction
"New Sensation" - INXS
"Keep The Car Running" - Arcade Fire
"Hungry Heart" - Bruce Springsteen
"Wild Flower" - The Cult
