Adventures At Canada's Wonderland

I am not an amusement park enthusiast by any means. I went on a roller coaster only once growing up. I was 15 years old and I visited Canada's Wonderland with a friend. After we rode the coaster I felt nauseous and I had to sit with my head between my legs. And that was that. Never again, I said.

But when I was invited to a blogger event at Canada's Wonderland recently, I of course said yes for the sake of the kids. Each of my kids invited a friend, because a) anything is more fun with friends and b) my daughter won't go on any scary rides, leaving my husband (who has his clear ride limitations) partnering up with the boy.

She & Him, 41/52

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Insta-Friday in real life

Happy Friday!

For those with little ones who returned to school this week, I hope everything went well. And to my teacher friends, I hope you are not too traumatized.

I am once again sharing cell phone photos from the past week. I don’t have many. I will have more in the future, since I finally ordered my own cell phone, so I don’t have to use my husband’s anymore.
My phone arrived today…and left again. Why is it that the courier ALWAYS comes during the one hour you leave the house? Does this happen to you too?

Insta-Friday in real life, organization edition

It's Insta-Friday again...time to share a look at our family cell phone photos from the past week (or two in this case).

Everywhere you look, summer seems to be winding down. Children have gone back to school in some areas. People are talking about wanting to wear sweaters again. (Not me.)

Insta-Friday in real life, the sun is fun edition

Friday is here again. We are looking forward to celebrating my father-in-law's 75th birthday tomorrow. Then, my son has a soccer tournie on Sunday. What does the weekend look like for you?

Here is a Friday look at the past couple of weeks, in simple, sweet cell phone photos. We haven't had many chances to go to the local Farmer's Market this year. Actually we have only gone once.

We enjoyed the fresh kettle corn, above.

We also enjoyed fries AND sweet potato fries.

At one of the stops on our road trip to Cape Cod, my son was delighted to find this digital pop machine, with LOTS of choices. Or should I say soda machine? Americans say soda, right?

In a quirky shop in Provincetown, we saw these signs. This one reminded me of my sister's husband, because he thinks my sister and I are witches.

I loved this view from under my beach umbrella.

Beach eats. Craigsville Beach, Centerville, MA.

The sun and my skin don't get along so well.

They had one healthy option on the beachside menu: hummus, lettuce and pita chips.

Even vacation allowed for some thrifting.

Early in our trip, we got the kids to start writing down what license plates they saw. We offered $5 for a California plate. My son looked for DAYS before he spotted this in Cape Cod.

Back at home, my boy and his dad made a quick trip to Canada's Wonderland.

How was your week?

Insta-Friday in real life

Simple, quick, handy cell phone photos.

What did we ever do without them? Remember when you had to wait to get your film developed?

Anyway, here are some highlights from my family’s week.

That’s my daughter sleeping, above. We had a busy weekend, starting with a visit to our local drive-in. The first movie was The Avengers, followed by Mirror Mirror. My poor little girl really wanted to see Mirror Mirror but she didn’t even make it through The Avengers. And none of us made it through Mirror Mirror. Oh well, one day they will look back fondly on their drive-in days.
