Thrifty Finds

Happy St. Patrick's Day! Even though I'm half Irish, I have no plans to celebrate. But at least my photo today has some green in it. That's something, right?

I have a couple of thrifty finds to share, including this "Strawberry Patch" fabric. I found it at the thrift shop and thought it would be perfect for little sewing projects with the kids.

Kid Thrift

Last week, I told you about thrifting with my sister. For our first stop, at the Bibles for Missions store, my sister and I were joined by my niece, my husband and our two kids. The thing is, I warned the husband that we would be in the store for a good long while. My sister takes even longer than me to browse. But he wanted to come along. Of course, he ended up sitting in the car complaining.

We dropped him and the kids off at my sister's house before we went to the next two stores. My daughter did manage to find a few things at the Bibles for Missions shop though. She and I picked out these fabrics, above, thinking that we can either make doll clothes or do some kind of craft project with them one day (hopefully before she enters university in nine years).

Thrifting at mom's house again

Last week, I talked about thrifting with my sister while visiting my parents in their small town. Besides the goodies I got at local thrift shops, I also came away with more vintage stuff from my mom.

But, first I want to show you some of the cool things my parents own that I haven't taken home...yet.

My mom isn't going to be too happy to see the cobwebs in the photo, above, but the collection is up by the (high) ceiling and I didn't feel like dusting all these objects. My parents live by the lake, which means lots of spiders! This is just a part of my dad's collection of beer steins, etc. My favourite item is that little guy who pours shots. He actually moves. I loved it when I was a kid.
