What I Ate Wednesday (aka abdominal complaints part III)

I feel like I'm becoming a big ole snooze! Please attribute it to the fact that I can't eat as much as I want. I'm afraid that, given this post is about food, I need to continue talking about my tummy woes. Two weeks ago on What I Ate Wednesday I told you how I had pain and bubbling in my stomach. In last week's post, I told you how I was chugging back probiotics, and that the doctor had told me my gallbladder might be an issue. Well, the fun continues. I am awaiting my appointment for ultrasound and x-ray. In the meantime, I had a terrible attack of pain on the weekend. Like, writhing around and begging my husband to find me some kind (any kind!) of meds that might help. That passed after a couple of hours but I have been super cautious about what I eat and how much I eat since then.

So, this day of eats starts with my "safe" breakfast of Daiya black cherry vegan greek yogurt alternative. Perfect to satisfy hunger without creating much stress on the digestive system.

I find kombucha very helpful for digestive issues too. I have been chugging the stuff like crazy. On this particular day, it was GTS Synergy Divine Grape kombucha. A tasty kombucha if you're not into the green stuff. If some nice person wants to send me along a giant case of kombucha, that would be helpful.

The yogurt didn't keep me full for the whole morning, so I munched on thin Triscuits and hummus.

I had Amy's organic alphabet soup for lunch. I wanted their no-chicken noodle soup, but my local grocery store didn't have any. (I sent my husband in search of foods that wouldn't offend my stomach.)

For dinner, I made simple baked tofu (seasoned with Bragg's liquid aminos, garlic powder and a bit of a hoisin sauce). I didn't add any greens because my first stomach episode came after a green smoothie with a ton of kale.

Hopefully next week I won't have to blather on about my tummy. I hope it's on the mend by then. What do you eat when you're not feeling well?

  2. So sorry to hear about your stomach woes. That's no fun when you love food! I stick to green apples and bananas but luckily I haven't had to do it for more than a couple of days. Get well!

  3. Oh no! I hope you find some answers. I've booked in to see a vegan dietitian in a month because I'm having some reactions so I need to pin down what is affecting me as it seems to be getting worse. Fortunately my appointment is right after World Vegan Day ;) But it will be followed by a very strict diet for six weeks which might make for some interesting blogging!

    1. I need to do just what you're doing. Seems funny that we eat so well relative to many people and we are experiencing issues. Enjoy World Vegan Day! And I hope you get some good advice/assistance from your vegan dietitian. I look forward to reading about it. :)
