What I Ate Wednesday, sushi escape edition

Happy Wednesday! I hope you are all enjoying blissfully long summer days filled with friendship, food, family and fun. Summer is short - be sure to take advantage. This past week, I was feeling like I was spending way too much time cooped up in my office meeting writing deadlines.

One day, when these four walls seemed too much to handle any longer, I asked the family to escape with me to a place we all enjoy - the all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant. (My sushi obsession is quite clear to anybody who reads this blog regularly.)

My little girl proudly demonstrated her chopstick skills.

And we were sure to order a bunch of our favourite veggie green dragon rolls - and pretty much every other vegetarian selection on the menu. On that particular day, a little of the all-you-can-eat was just what I needed to pick up my spirits.

Another day's lunch was a quick sandwich made up of a bun topped with hummus, vegan ham, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce, black olives and mayo.

Cherries are in abundance at the stores right now, and they are a great, healthy snack that three out of four of my family members enjoy. One day I served them with orange slices for the one (the boy!) who doesn't like them.

My husband made his famous garlic noodles with tofu one day for dinner. There's nothing like a big bowl of garlicky noodles! And why not throw some delicious roasted asparagus on the side? Yum.

My sweet girl announced that she was contributing a salad to our lunch menu one day. This is what she came up with. She clearly put a lot of thought and effort into it. Very cute.

Still nothing too complex going on around here in terms of meals lately. Better to enjoy these precious summer days, don't you agree?

  1. That sushi gets me every time! I wish we had a place like that near me, though I'd be there all the time. Love your daughter's salad, there's a lot of love in it!

Thanks, yes she made a sweet salad. I'm happy any time somebody else makes up the salad. :)

  2. I threw some cherries in the Yonanas the other day - very nice - yesterday I had blueberries. I've been on the hunt for another machine too, we've looked in three cities, no luck!! They sure must be popular!!
