Thrifting Sisters...part three

I'm back with another edition of Thrifting Sisters. My last post was in November. If I lived closer to my sister, you can be sure there would be many more of these posts. Having someone to shop with fuels the addiction, doesn't it? Our first stop was Bibles for Missions in St. Catharines, where I picked up this piece of pottery made in Vineland, Ontario.

I also got these Umbra candle holders, still in the box, for $1.50.

I added this vase to my collection of milk glass. I couldn't resist (for 50 cents). Milk glass is so cheap...and pretty.

Not sure what this is. The salesperson thought it might be a vintage napkin holder. I bought it because it reminded me of a letter sorter I spotted on Heather's blog. My husband didn't like it and I could tell my sister didn't either, but she was polite about it. This one's on you Heather. But don't worry, it was only $1.

I also bought eight red chargers. Clearly not vintage, but I think they will be nice for Valentine's Day or Christmas dinners.

My sister complains that I don't put her picture in my "Thrifting Sisters" posts. So, here we are. I really wasn't prepared to be photographed. Black and white makes things just a bit better, doesn't it?

We went to a couple more stores, but I only found a few shirts. My sister added some great finds to her collection of clothing and handbags. My daughter found some cute items that I'll share next week.

Until next time then, thrifting sisters!

  5. Nice finds. I love those Umbra candle holders. I think that holder thing is for hand towels in the bathroom. I remember a friend's aunt having one and that's how she used it.

  7. Some great finds ... love the pottery and the milk glass. I like the look of a milk glass collection, but I don't have one piece! You and your sister take a nice photo with beautiful smiles :D I'll have to remember the B&W next time my picture is taken. And just tell your husband that thingy is a magazine holder to take up the slack of what won't fit in the ONE shelf he has allotted you ;) Have a great day Jo! Wendy

  13. I am so proud to have corrupted you into buying that letter holder thing!!! ;) Actually, I think the wider ones like yours were meant for fancy little hand towels in the bathroom. I vaguely remember my mom having one that she used that way when I was little. Nice finds all around, and I love the pic of you and your sis. You really look alike!

  18. You two look so happy!!! Probably because you found some awesome things (this is making me want to go thrifting, something I've had to refrain from due to budget and time restraints... Gah! I need my fix!). Personally, I kind of like the thing with no name. I can totally see it on a desk being used to hold mail!

  19. I love that thing that you don't know the name of. I don't know what it is either but looks like it could hold any number of things and in high style!

  20. I love the holder also. I have seen these as guest towel holders (same as comment above). The towels were the small ones rolled up and tied with a ribbon. Love to have a thrifting partner though it might encourage me to spend too much.
