Insta-Friday in real life, March Break begins

Once again, this Friday, I am taking a look at our cell phone photos from the past week. This is a special Friday, because it’s the first day of March Break for the kids, and for my teacher-husband too.
We started off celebrating last night with a few chocolate goodies and a family movie night.
The kids picked All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 on Netflix. It’s an animated film, starring the voice of Charlie Sheen, pre-public meltdown. I confess I started to tune out early on during a painfully long introductory scene. I decided to play a game of Brain Age 2: Virus Buster while “watching” the movie.
Today, the fun continues. How to occupy the kids for a week with minimal fighting…
I can’t help but remember our March Break last year, when we went to Clearwater Beach, Florida, for my sister’s wedding. In the past, pre-kids, my idea of a great vacation was a trip to Europe, sightseeing and visiting museums and galleries.
I was a changed woman once I experienced the beautiful weather in Florida, and the opportunity to swim during our painfully long winter. We also had a great time with my sister and her new husband and the friends who joined us in Florida.

This picture of my son and my husband trying on some "hockey hair" in a Clearwater Beach tourist shop is a fond reminder of our vacation.

I am still working on the photobook of our vacation (talk about procrastinating). In the meantime, I also have this grouping of photos to remind me of the fun we had.

This year’s vacation will be much more low key. My daughter is spending her first day off operating a “book store" in our house.

She has set up some books and a cash register and also distributed flyers.

The flyer says the books are free, but maybe that’s just to draw people in…there is a cash register after all.
In other news from the week, my son got to go snowboarding again. We had a light dusting of snow last night, but I think that just might have been his last trip this year.

Last weekend, the kids proudly made their own lunches.
My son also painted a sweet little portrait. It’s not a picture of himself, but he says it “looks a little bit like me.”
I made a pinto bean and spelt elbow pasta bake with tortilla chips on top. It wasn’t that great, but the chips were nice.
Today’s breakfast was my usual oatmeal, ground flax, fruit and soy (or rice) milk combo. I love it when we have fresh berries in the house.
How was your week? I would love to hear about it!

    1. Thanks Holly. He spent a lot of time on it. Kept him away from video games for a bit.:)
