Insta-Friday in real life, Jolene gets a bath

Happy Friday folks!

I am sharing simple cell phone photos again. On Monday, I told you about the shopping expedition I shared with my sis, during which we argued over a Guess wallet. The cool charity thrift shop we went to had this awesome display of salt and pepper shakers. I didn't buy any though. I am NOT getting into that!

Ah yes, Halloween...and its aftermath. This has been the scene in my house all week...until yesterday, when I finally hid the candy away. The kids were eating it morning, noon and night! (I might have had just a few treats myself.)

Speaking of Halloween, the local grocery store had Halloween costumes and decor at 90% off! I went a little bit crazy. My son was actually embarrassed at the checkout. But, I spent under $30 for lots of fun decor items, three adult costumes and a dog costume. Yes, next year Jolene will be Yoda.

My son liked this candy scoop. He was concerned it doesn't hold enough candy though. Already thinkin' about candy for next year! I told him he could dump it in a bigger bag and keep going.

I don't usually wear costumes, but I thought I could manage this simple skeleton dress. With leggings! That puppy is short. I also got two cool lenticular portraits for 44 cents each.

Here's the portrait of a woman.

And her dark side. (We all have one.)

Jolene finally got a bath this week. Hurrah! She was smelly. She is big on the silent protest. You have to look at her eyes to see how upset she is. She was happy afterwards though, I'll tell you. She must have smelled herself before. Here's a little look at her post-bath joy:

Don't ya just love her spotted belly?

  1. At first I thought that pic of the salt and pepper shakers was your collection! Looks like you had a spooky filled week :) You're all set for next Halloween.

Jolene is a cutie, I wish I had a dog but I'm just not quite up to the challenge right now. My cat is high maintenance enough!

    1. If I did have a collection, it wouldn't be organized so nicely. ;) I am definitely set for next Halloween. I can't wait.

Dogs are a lot of work. I really can't recommend them to someone with a small child. Now, if our dog was better behaved, it would help. ;)

  2. I love those prints. I had to laugh at this post because my husband is always embarrassed when I buy the Christmas wrapping paper after Christmas and save it for the next year, but hey, you're right, holiday items bought after the holiday are amazing bargains! Now you have all year to anticipate wearing that little skeleton get-up! :)

    1. Oh, I do the Christmas wrapping paper thing too! :) It is soooo cheap! As long as you have somewhere to store it, it's all good.

  4. I am ALL about buying the super clearance afer the holidays! My daugher's birthday party goodie bags are always filled with clearance Easter basket stuffers. "Just ignore that those lipglosses are shaped like eggs, girls. They were only 19-cents!!" :)

Also, watching the video, this is the first time I've realized that maybe you talk in a Canadian accent...? Eh? What's that aboot? Heh.

    Have a great weekend, Jo!!

    1. If I have a Canadian accent, I don't know it, honey! ;) I guess we must. I definitely say eh? but I have never understood the aboot thing. I don't know anybody who says it that way. And we say eh? as a question, like isn't that so? "That's cute, eh?" I don't know how people get by without saying it. ;) What do you say instead? On TV, it looks like we just add eh at the end of a sentence for no reason, not as a question. That bothers me. Get it right people. ;)

    2. Oh, and my dad has a different accent. He's from Nova Scotia. He doesn't really have their accent anymore, but he says tree instead of three. :)

  5. Salt & Pepper shakers are so cute, but definitely off my "no" list- adds up too quick lol. Those portraits are fiendishly cute! And Jolene's face mirrors our dog Rascals bath time -- we call her Rascal, the long suffering lol

    1. I remember having some salt and pepper shakers in my first apartment. Not sure what happened to them, but I don't need to be adding more collections!

I wonder if Rascal gets more baths than Jolene? We don't have a very good track record!

  6. HaHa - do you know I did the same thing - all pleased with myself because I got next years paper party plates for 24p!! I add to my halloween decor each year - it's a relatively new thing to celebrate more fully here in England - but we're catching on- any excuse to decorate!! J9 x

  7. Yesterday was bath day for all three of our dogs. I start with the one who is hardest to bathe, and work down to the one who sits outside the bathroom door waiting her turn. None of them like the bath part, but they love the treats that come after!
