Rock The Halls With Sears Fashions For Kids ($100 Sears Card Giveaway)

My Girl's Picks - Fall Fashions From Sears

I think a new outfit for the first day of school is a necessity. I got one (or two!) every year growing up, and I found it helped me to leave summer behind and get excited about the new school year. Now that I carry on the tradition with my own children I'm always interested to see how their style changes from year to year.

While my little girl once adored frilly dresses and a wild mix of colours and patterns, she now favours a more simple and sporty style. She is beginning competitive dance this year, so she is a fan of dance-related clothing such as track pants and hoodies. She also still likes fashion with a touch of whimsy, like the heart-themed tops and leggings from Sears, above.

Spring fashions for kids and a giveaway from Sears (CLOSED)

After a long, cold winter, spring offers a much-needed sense of renewal for all of Mother Nature's creatures - including us. As we open up our windows and dust off our furniture, we naturally feel the urge to bring change into our lives.

For us women, that means shopping! Renewing the family wardrobe is a springtime must. And with sunshine and warm days to look forward to, the stores are sure to be filled with pretty pastels, cheery brights and sunny florals.

Back to School Fashions #SearsMomBTS

Tony Hawk top and pants (with belt)
Although it has been many (many!) years since I was in school, I still get that back-to-school feeling each fall. Let's be honest, most of the excitement I felt about going back to school related to the outfit I would wear on the first day. Each year my parents generously allowed my sister and me to refresh our wardrobes in late summer and again at Easter time.

So, of course, it only makes sense that I repeat the tradition with my kids. Back-to-school wardrobe additions are exciting for my daughter, just as they were for me. My son, while he is happy to get new threads, would be happier if he could keep his old clothes and NOT go back to school!

Cute Clothes for Kids

Part of the fun of warm weather is switching over to a summer wardrobe. I tend to focus on clothes for the kids. I'm sure most moms are the same. After all, they are always growing. We don't have that excuse!

I'm loving the selection of offerings over at Tea Collection. Today through Monday you can get my favourite picks, above, on sale.  Tea Collection is offering select $15 girls dresses, $12 girls leggings and $12 boys tops. Sometimes I find that the really cute clothes aren't available in my kids' sizes, but Tea Collection offers sizes from 6 months to 12 years.

Here in Canada, we can only shop for Tea Collection in specialty stores. I will live vicariously through my American friends. If you are interested, hurry over to Tea Collection now, because they have already sold out of some styles.

What clothing pieces are you looking to add to your wardrobe this summer?

Kid Thrift

Last week, I told you about thrifting with my sister. For our first stop, at the Bibles for Missions store, my sister and I were joined by my niece, my husband and our two kids. The thing is, I warned the husband that we would be in the store for a good long while. My sister takes even longer than me to browse. But he wanted to come along. Of course, he ended up sitting in the car complaining.

We dropped him and the kids off at my sister's house before we went to the next two stores. My daughter did manage to find a few things at the Bibles for Missions shop though. She and I picked out these fabrics, above, thinking that we can either make doll clothes or do some kind of craft project with them one day (hopefully before she enters university in nine years).

Think Pink

On Saturday, I took my daughter to buy much-needed new tap shoes. She has grown a lot lately!

Shoes bought, I asked her to accompany me to the Salvation Army thrift store. We were pleased to see that it was a sale day...half price on anything with pink, red or white on it.

I just happen to love pink dishes anyway. I chose this small Royal York "Sweetheart Rose" plate.
