Asian Cat Tea Cups & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #69

When I go to the thrift store nowadays, I look for items that really speak to me - that invite an instant happy response. So how could I resist these sweet little Asian tea cups?  Just one look at these darling white reclining kitty cats and their little pink ears and you can't help but smile.

Sentimental Cat Portraits & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #52

I have noticed on my thrift shopping excursions that there are often many framed paintings and prints piled up and seemingly rarely purchased. Art is so personal, isn't it? And one man's trash is another man's...well, you know.

When my sister gave me these vintage cat portraits recently, it reminded me of all the unclaimed pictures at the thrift shops. These two sweet cats decorated the walls of the cottage bedroom that my sister and I shared for many years on weekends and in summer. I often glanced at them before turning the lights out and going to sleep. (They were easier to enjoy than all those spiders on the ceiling!)

Life Well Lived, part one

I have often dreamed of having a home in the country. But, I also like city life. Right now, I am kind of stuck in between in the suburbs.

A visit to my sister-in-law’s house this past weekend further fueled my country cravings. In fact, her house is not too far from the city, so she has the best of both worlds.

She and her husband have taken a 1960s bungalow and turned it into a beautiful Cape Cod-style home. They are in the midst of renovating the interior now, as well as landscaping their ample property. In the meantime, they make the best of it by spending lots of time outdoors. They have a lovely, large front porch and beautiful front doors.

Here is my daughter on the porch.
