Blogger Style: Ariel

Blogger Style: Ariel - a peek into a Canadian blogger's fab, stylish home. This military family has to be ready for a move, so most of Ariel's amazing decor is ready to go. She mixes old and new decor touches to create a very personal and creative pad. #decor #home #style #decorating #design #bloggers #Canada #art

I am thrilled to bring back my Blogger Style series today. It's been quite a while since we looked at Taby's lovely home. I so enjoy peeking into another person's fabulous house, don't you? And I have a truly fabulous abode to share with you today.

Ariel works in home decor and is the blogger behind A PMQ For Two, a home decor and DIY blog for military families and families living in base housing. Ariel and her husband live in a 1960s duplex in Private Married Quarters (PMQs) in Quebec. They share their house with a dog and two cats. "We moved into this mid-century stunner early last fall and have been working steadily to transform the house, room by room, into our own," says Ariel.  She is also actively engaged in the military community and writes for the Canadian Military Family Magazine and SpouseBuzz.com. Ariel is an Etsy Tastemaker.

Ariel's Design Philosophy

"I love to use bold colour, simply. It can define a space and breathes life into the dingiest of PMQs. I'm drawn to mid-century elements of design with a touch of classic elements, infused with contemporary prints. My style has evolved from move to move as we turned each space - and its quirks and charms - into a home for us and the pets. I enjoy the the thrill of hunting down that perfect item when thrifting, and have never turned down a build project. Making things and transforming items that we find locally is a big part of my design philosophy, as budget and location are constraining factors that all military families face (much like housing regulations). That being said, I feel like I've finally found my stride, and can't wait to see how our style evolves once we become homeowners."

I think Ariel's approach to making temporary housing feel like a permanent home is inspiring. She adds so many special touches in terms of artwork, photographs and paint colours.

Areas like this inviting chair and well-decorated bar cart in the living room feel comfy and cozy.

Obviously somebody else finds the living room couch cozy too!

These expansive shelves in the living room/dining room make for lots of display space for books and mementos, while being conveniently portable for the next move.

This yellow couch provides a pretty, colourful focus in the TV room.

I'm loving this picture wall with its mismatched yet unified framed art.

The master bedroom is pretty without being too feminine.

Ariel's lovely guest room is an inviting retreat for guests...and canine family members!

  1. I like to mix the old with the new in my home. Think it makes it more interesting and individual. Love the photo of the picture wall in the home featured - lots to look at there.
