My New Home Office Chair & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #43

I had the most awful chair in my home office - a terrible blue chair our neighbour left at the curb one day. I should be grateful - it was free and it served me well for a time. It just wasn't attractive. That's why I snagged this vintage swivel office chair from my parents' house last time we were there. I gotta confess, it isn't all that comfortable (and I've got the bruised elbow to prove it!), but I like the look of it so much better! It has character, unlike that office-y chair that reminded me of the boring office environment I worked in before.

Somehow I have to make it a bit more comfortable though - maybe a nice, thick cushion or some kind of supportive, posture-helping type thingy. Oh, and I want to paint it (or re-stain it) a colour that suits my office - but don't tell my dad - he does not believe in painting any wood. He even has a wooden toilet seat!

My husband left that "awful" blue chair at the curb today, and you know what? Somebody took it just hours later. Despite my criticism, that chair continues to be useful today!

If you have an office chair, what's it like? How can I make my chair comfy? And what colour should I paint it? (I have black furniture, blue accents and touches of pink in my home office.)

  1. Maybe fabric covered foam back and seat cushions with ties. Comfort. Aren't gate leg tables so handy. Mine is 'hosting' a drill press in the living room ! Yours looks much nicer as a work station. I love the 'putting things on the curb and they go to new homes', I've been doing that bit by bit since spring this year.

Thanks for Vintage Bliss 43. Love visiting and joining in. Have a good week.

    1. Yes, I love my gate leg table. It was my grandmother's. I hadn't thought of putting a drill press on it. ;)

I love it when people take our stuff from the curb too! Keeping stuff out of landfill. :)

      Thanks for joining in!

  4. Joann, I just have an ugly black office chair at my computer. You have inspired me to think of a way to make it more cheery. I do have an office chair in my sewing room that I recovered and it is due for an update. I think bright cushions would be the solution and make it comfy. My house is decorated in Mission Style oak furniture like your chair. I hate to see you paint it and I think bright cheery cushions would be very nice. It would update the look and could easily be changed. Just my opinion! LOL!
