My Childhood Jewelry & Vintage Bliss Tuesdays Linky Party #45

I am still focusing on purging, rather than buying. As I go through all my stuff bit by bit, I come across some gems that simply must stay in my possession. Like these little goodies from my childhood that I found among the items stuffed into my old jewelry box. Whether valuable or not, I have developed a fondness for these pieces. I remember I was for a time completely enamoured of this sweet cat charm, which I believe has a jade belly. I also loved my Christmas tree pin. (I need to remember to get it out next Christmas!) And the gold cross was a gift from my mother - apparently it was given to her by a suitor long ago.

This was my favourite bracelet - I have always tended to prefer silver over gold, which is probably out of character for a Leo (and, as you can see, my charm clearly indicates that I am a Leo). I think there were plans to buy more silver charms but there only ended up being these two - the Leo charm and a Christmas stocking full of colourful gems.

Since I got these babies when I was a child, I guess that makes them vintage.

Do you have any childhood baubles hanging around...

  1. Oh my god Jo I forgot about that little kitty charm yes it is jade, my charm bracelet still only has two charms on it too. What did Mom and Daddy buy those for? Maybe we were especially good that week. :) HA HA

  2. Well, I do have a dolly put up in a cupboard. Thanks for Vintage Bliss Joann. I know I have too much vintage that I haven't even peeked at for years. And the years are getting older.

  3. Ha! I had a Christmas tree pin very similar when I was a kid that I'd completely forgotten about! I've never been very into jewelry, though I did go through that whole 50 bead necklace trend that hit in the early 2000s. I'll have to see if I can find any (now vintage, sigh) treasures from my youth around here somewhere!

    1. I was never much into jewelry either. Unlike my sister (see comment above) who has always adored it!

  4. I have a charm bracelet that I received for my 8th grade graduation. It has a lot of charms and yes, mine is silver. I prefer silver over gold. As I traveled to Europe twice before getting married, I would collect charms from each country and they are on my charm bracelet, too. Thanks for having the party and showing us your childhood jewelry. My childhood jewelry warms my heart and will be keepsakes for my grands.
