This week, I'm sharing a look at some of my recent thrifty finds. If there's a theme to be had, I guess it's yellow and brown. This first item - the made in Japan mushroom and owl spoon rest above - was actually a gift from my sister. She thrifted it for me. I hung it above the stove because thrifty dishes that I leave on the counter tend to get "accidentally" broken by my husband. (Strange - he is ordinarily so careful.)
I was shopping at Salvation Army with my mom when I saw this little lidded dish - it's Alfred Meakin England Glo-White Ironstone. My mom kind of made a face when she saw it, but I know what I like, so I bought it anyway.
I also found a nice big yellow and green Pyrex bowl recently. (I'm sorry, I have no clue about pattern names - anybody?)
I'm off to my daughter's dance showcase now so I'm keeping it short and sweet. Thank you for continuing to link up to Vintage Bliss Tuesdays even when I'm a bad host and don't get over to comment on your vintage finds. I love to visit but sometimes I run out of time to comment. I will try to be a better host in future!
Have you been thrifting lately?

I use this website when I don't know a pattern. If it's really rare then I have to do a bit more googling. Yours is Shenandoah. (http://www.pyrexlove.com/vintage-pyrex-pattern-guide/)

ReplyDeleteSo many experts here. :) Thanks!
DeleteI remember my mother having a spoon rest exactly like the one you found.
ReplyDeleteReally? That's so great!
DeleteOh good finds, it's best to thrift with people who DON'T want the same things you do because that can be awkward sometimes!
ReplyDeleteSo true Laura! That's why my sister and I make good partners. We want completely different things (most of the time) and she finds stuff for me!
