Products We Love - Boo Bamboo

Whenever possible, I try to use personal care products that are friendly to our health and the earth. Recently, I was pleased to try out products from Boo Bamboo, a Canadian company that creates all-natural skin, hair, sun and baby care products. Boo Bamboo products are cruelty free, vegan, gluten free and enriched with organic bamboo extracts. They are free of sulphates, parabens and DEA too.

The certified organic bamboo extracts in Boo Bamboo's hair products are said to provide the richest known source of natural silica, thus strengthening the hair follicles and retaining moisture to promote shine. The formulation is supposed to eliminate frizz (a benefit I can certainly use this summer!).

I tried Boo Bamboo's Hair Strengthening Shampoo. It is a thick, clear product that is gently scented. It lathers up nicely, which I like because it feels like you’re getting a thorough wash. The product is suitable for all hair types, safe for colour-treated hair and has a low pH formula.

Boo Bamboo's Strengthen and Shine Conditioner has a bit of a stronger scent, which I nevertheless found pleasant. The whole line of products smells woodsy and natural to me. The conditioner seems to rinse off cleanly and I found I had nice, soft hair that was easy to style after use.

If you have hair that's on the dry side (like me), you might want to give Boo Bamboo's Revitalizing Conditioning Treatment a try in addition to the regular conditioner. This restorative treatment with bamboo extract and organic protein is said to absorb quickly into your hair to repair and strengthen over-processed hair. I like to give my hair some extra loving about once a week.

If there is a product that we can never get enough of in this house, it's body wash. That's why I love trying new, natural body washes. Boo Bamboo's Skin Smoothing Body Wash is a nice, gentle, pleasant body wash that works for our entire family. The Exfoliating Body Wash also has a pleasant, natural scent that's not too strong. Plus, it has small, gentle grains that provide exfoliating action without scratching skin.

I have a rule of always washing my face before bed. But I  have broken that rule a few times lately. That's where these Boo Bamboo Makeup Remover Wipes come in handy. You can keep the package right next to the bed for those nights when you fall asleep on the couch and don't feel like washing your face when you finally get up to bed. They would also be great for camping, when water isn't handy.

I recently found them useful after my 9-year-old daughter's dance recital nights. She was able to wipe her dance makeup off all by herself using the wipes. The wipes are not super wet. They provide a gentle clean, which the company says comes from a moisturizing blend of organic bamboo, green tea and chamomile extracts. Because they are so gentle, I find I have to swipe several times to remove mascara. On the plus side, they don't sting my eyes. These bamboo wipes are lint free, unbleached, biodegradable and contain Vitamin E.

Find Boo Bamboo online in Canada or in the U.S.

  2. Sounds like lovely products! I love face wipes for taking off eye make-up and for trips so I don't have to pack a bottle of face wash.

    1. I know Ruthie - I hate when the face wash has a lid that doesn't close, making it impossible to pack in a suitcase. And, even if it does, it sometimes leaks! Wipes are great for that. :)
