The Weekend: Fun in the Country

Our long weekend started on Thursday, so we managed to fit in quite a bit of fun. In addition to our day trip to Port Dover that I showed you this morning, we spent a few days at my parents' place on Lake Erie. We also enjoyed some time at my sister-in-law's lovely home in the country.

My son did not want to leave their home yesterday. We had to fight to get him to leave the porch. He has soccer practice this week and a tournament this weekend, so staying wasn't an option. He wanted to stay with his three boy cousins (who aren't pictured here because they were at a baseball game).

The kids find all sorts of things to do in the country - one of their favourites is taking this John Deere riding lawn mower for a spin.

Maple the (massive) dog likes to run alongside the mower (and sometimes attempt to chew the tires).

I even took the mower for a little spin myself.

This picture shows you more about this home's appeal to children. I spot a trampoline, baseball bats, a tire swing, chickens and a fire pit.

Whenever we return home from my sister-in-law's house, my son laments his life in the "dumb suburbs." I can't say I blame him.

Have you spent time in the country lately?

    1. I would like to have a place like that myself. As well as a cottage by the sea and a condo in the city. ;) I like it all!

    1. Yes, what a great spot!

That dog is just gigantic. I haven't quite seen one like her before. Good thing she's a big suck. :)
