Pineapple Spinach Smoothie

In anticipation of the spring weather that doesn't seem to be coming around here, I have been consuming a lot of morning smoothies. Generally, I use whatever fruit I have in the fridge or freezer on any given day.

I happened to have some pineapple one day and I thought it might add a nice tropical touch to my smoothie.

I threw about five chunks in a Magic Bullet cup and added a banana, a handful of frozen strawberries, half of an apple and some orange juice.

I wanted to add greens too, but I had to blend first, because I had overfilled the cup some.

In went a handful of baby spinach.

Another brief blend and breakfast was ready. You can see it's kind of a semi-green smoothie. I like the fruit to be the overwhelming taste, rather than veggies. This blend is nutritious but also tasty!

It calls for half an apple, because I like to give the other half to Jolene the beagle mix. She loves fruit...or any food at all for that matter.

What's your favourite smoothie mix?

  1. Yum! I bet the pineapple adds a nice touch when paired with the spinach. I use apple, lime and raw ginger when I juice to help drown out the earthy taste of the greens. Next time I'm going to try your idea.

  3. Awesome! I was just thinking a few days ago that I needed to find a smoothie recipe with pineapple in it. Win! My favorite smoothie so far is 1 cup mixed berries, 1/2 a banana, peanut butter, spinach, and a little bit of honey and vanilla. Sometimes I switch out the PB for plain greek yogurt so it will still have a lot of protein but not as many calories. I do love my PB though....

  4. I really love the look of this - I will have to give it a try. If I make smoothie I generally go for a blueberry base and like to throw in a handful of oats as well.

Hope you are having a lovely week.
