Boston in a day

On our recent trip to Cape Cod, we made sure to schedule a day for visiting the lovely city of Boston. While I wouldn't recommend spending only one day in Boston, it gave us a good taste of the city.

We will be sure to visit again in the future to spend more time exploring galleries and museums. It is a city that is clearly rich with history.

We naively arrived without specific directions, expecting clear signs on the highway that would lead us to Boston Common. We therefore passed by the city completely and had to turn around.

We also had to stop and ask someone for directions once we were in the city. Once we found Boston Common, though, we parked right underneath the park and everything was all good after that.

I think we paid about $23 for parking for the day. Not bad for the convenience of being in the centre of it all.

Here is the famous Faneuil Hall, where we stopped to eat, as I mentioned here earlier.

Since we were short on time, and had never been to Boston before, we decided a trolley tour would provide a good introduction.

The tour included a harbour tour.

I thought this boat was called The Great Gatsby. Perfect for summer. Turns out it's The Great Catsby. Cute.

We saw The Boston Common Frog Pond from the trolley and promised the kids we would return to wade later (since it was a steaming hot day). Unfortunately, it was "closed" when we got there, but we covertly submerged our feet anyway.

My only previous experience with Boston comes from the movies. I kept thinking of Good Will Hunting and The Town. Have you seen Ben Affleck in The Town? Looking good...but I digress.

Lovely city. We will be back. What's your favourite city?

  3. So glad you got to check out Boston! We used to visit often when I was a kid, as my dad ran the marathon frequently. Lovely place, isn't it?
