Last week, I told you about a couple of my recent trips to Value Village.
I mentioned that I had picked up two outdoor folding chairs that my husband called “hideous.”
They are rocking chairs, although my son reports that they do not rock smoothly.
It looks to me like someone painstakingly replaced the original material by hand-weaving through the chairs. That ought to count for something, right?
Or, do they come like this?
My husband wants me to hide them in the backyard, but I have them proudly out front.
Do you agree with my husband? Are they hideous?
I think they look great! Add two funky cushions and they are sorted:) Hope you are having a good week!

Anne! Cushions...genius. How did I not think of that? What kind of cushions?
DeleteNo, no, NOT HIDEOUS! They are retro and funky and cool! I just love them. I showed some vintage aluminum lawn chairs (though not as cool as yours!)in a post on my blog last year sometime, and people ("people" being my family) made fun of me as well, but I firmly believe in their inherent coolness. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Heather! Retro and funky and cool is what I was thinking. ;) I will have to look for the pic of your chairs too! Sometimes you just have to ignore the family!
DeleteDefinitely not hideeous. Love the colours. I thought they were vintage ones at first:)
ReplyDeleteI like the colours too! I'm not sure how old the chairs are. :)
DeletePut me in the positive column-- I love them! The colors are absolutely retro chic {& you can find outdoor pillows and/or cushions at a ton of places online, including etsy!}
ReplyDeleteThat's great Tabetha. So far, I only have two negatives, both from Facebook friends! I will look for some etsy pillows. That would be cool!
DeleteI like the fun colors too. Very cool! Plus they're so easy to fold away if you ever get bored of them. Display them proudly :)
ReplyDeleteThey should be easy to fold, but they take a bit of work. ;) Kind of bent. Anyway, thanks for your support! I will indeed display them proudly!
DeleteI don't mind them, actually. I think that fact that they rock (mostly) is pretty cool too.
ReplyDeleteI like the rocking feature too Laurie!
DeleteNo, they aren't hideous - I love them!!! I would have grabbed them, too!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, thanks Wendy! I would like to see the ones that you got.
DeleteThose chairs are fantastic - love them! They remind me so much of some my parents had!
ReplyDeleteBTW I've started going into Charity Shops but everything is sooo expensive considering it is used AND there is nothing worth buying:( BUT I will keep looking since I LOVE your bargains...there must be some to have in the UK!
Hi Vicky! Some of the prices are ridiculous at the thrift stores here too. I signed up for their email newsletters. Then they alert you to sales and discount cards. The Salvation Army had 99 cent kids' clothes and women's blouses today!
Deletethey are fabulous!! thank you for stopping by my blog. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for backing me up on the chairs!
DeleteSooooooooooooo NOT hideous! I have been searching for chairs like this for ages... remind me of my childhood! Total score in my books. Be proud & put them front & center!!!

Thanks Danielle! Nice when chairs can bring back fond memories! I will be proud of them, with your support!
Deletelove them!! I actually thought you covered them! I am searching to find out "how" to re-do an aluminum rocking chair I found at our land fill!! lol It is covered with an awful plastic yucky covering. lol and it rocks great!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your re-do. :)
Deleteour value village here is too expensive!! Their jeans are $9 & $12 bucks used and I can get them brand new at wal-mart for $8 bucks lol
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Sometimes the pricing is way off!
