Birthday Wishes

My little girl turns eight this week. Instead of heading to the movie theatre or the bowling alley for her party like we usually do, we decided to party old school this weekend, inviting some of her girlfriends over to our house to celebrate.

When it comes to little girls, the party theme usually starts with the cake. Once she settled on a pumpkin cake, it was all simple from there. There's certainly no shortage of pumpkin-themed items in stores right now!

All day, she kept asking me how many more hours until the party. Here she is anxiously setting the table for her company.

We kept the decorations simple, with pumpkin-themed paper dishes, a trick or treat banner and a few black and orange balloons.

I am no cake decorator, but the girls said the cake was beautiful. Kids are pretty great about any effort you make!

The green stem of the cake is an over-turned ice cream cone (stacked on a couple more cones for height).

Once the special guests arrived, the girls did some Halloween-themed activities, listened to music, ate dinner and then had their hair and nails done with the help of my sister-in-law and my niece.

Judging from the laughing and shouting, I would say they had a good time.

Happy birthday my little doll!

    1. Thanks. My husband said the cake wasn't blog worthy, but I don't think everything has to look perfect. ;)
