Making Christmas Memories - 25 Days of Christmas Activity Cards

Karen from Simply Fun Families sent me this lovely "25 Days of Christmas" kit recently and I wanted to share it with you. I think it's such a beautiful way of encouraging families to bond in the busy weeks leading up to Christmas.

Karen and I are both big fans of Katrina Kenison's book "The Gift of an Ordinary Day: A Mother's Memoir." I also love Kenison's "Mitten Strings for God: Reflections for Mothers in a Hurry." Essentially both books are about taking time to slow down and enjoy life with your children while they are still young.

Karen has taken this message to heart. She has created a business geared to inspiring parents to make wonderful memories with their kids. The "25 Days of Christmas" kit contains 35 inspiring activity cards, five blank cards for you to personalize and 25 envelopes dated from December 1st to 25th. It can be used year after year.

All you have to do is sit down with a calendar and select activities that will suit your family's schedule, organizing them in the dated envelopes provided. Or, just wing it like me. I figure I can select a card in the morning when I know better what our day is going to be like!

The kit comes with fun suggestions for how to deliver the cards to your children each day. You can have a daily mini treasure hunt or display the cards as a garland, for example.

I'm looking forward to the "Let's take some time today to snuggle up and watch a Christmas movie with popcorn" card. It comes with suggestions for family Christmas movies on the back.

  1. I love this idea! So important too at such a busy time of year. Our favourite tradition is the day we pull out all of the decorations and put up our tree. We pull out each decoration and remember where or who they came from, we crank the Christmas tunes and eat snacks all day.

  4. This is a great idea for busy families to really savor the season together. Of course, cards of any sort, I usually go ga-ga over anyway as you see over at www.ritewhileucan.com We have a family tradition of making chelsea buns (some call them cinnabuns) every Christmas Eve from scratch. The kids love kneading the dough!
