Insta-Friday in real life

Happy Friday! I am sharing a look at our week using Instagram photos. Well, it's not really our week, it's more like last weekend. Once the work week hits, there isn't much to photograph around here, except me at the computer and Jolene lying on her dog bed.

So, last Friday I told you how the family and I went on a little cleaning spree around the house. I rewarded them (and let's face it, me) with a sushi party. Above, the house is (mostly) clean, the table is set and I am waiting impatiently for sushi. Hence the Instagram photos to kill the time.

Sushi comes and photo taking is much quicker, because sushi doesn't last long around here.

Although spring is late (we are still waiting), on Saturday my husband decided it was time to barbecue. He did up some nice veggie burgers and vegetables, like mushrooms, peppers, potatoes and zucchini.

Sunday was Easter, of course, and the little ones discovered some treats from the Easter Bunny.

My girl got a lacy pink dress for spring. The boy got a PS3 skateboarding game. He wasn't that enthusiastic because he wants all the "mature" games that we refuse to buy him. He ended up liking the game once he gave it a chance though. Of course, they also hunted for eggs and ate lots of chocolate.

The husband started spinning "Jesus Christ Superstar" on the record player. That led to him finding the movie on Netflix. I enjoyed watching the kids' reactions. They didn't quite understand Roman guards in purple tank tops.

With a four-day weekend, we had time to hang out a bit. The kids discovered toys they hadn't noticed for years, like this truck that drops little bricks in a row. Nice to see them play with toys instead of watching TV or playing video games.

We spent some time hanging out in the basement. Most of the time I forget it's even there.

The only photo I took since the weekend was this one of my daughter enjoying her after-school fruit snack yesterday. She then went for a massage. She has had a sore neck since it was jolted in gym class. This was her first professional massage, and boy did she like it. The therapist asked if we should book next week just in case and my little one chimed in with an enthusiastic "Yes!"

My son's final basketball tournament of the year is this weekend. Wish us luck!

What are your plans for the weekend?

  2. We love the music from JC Superstar and know it all by heart! Well, actually Nick knows it better than I because he participated in a production of is once. Didn't know the movie was on netflix. Will have to look it up for sure.

Looks like it was a fun weekend.

  4. My only goal this weekend is to get to a marsh close to us to listen to the redwing blackbirds. I'm glad you're holding out on the 'mature' games for your kids. My husband finally caved with my son, and I regret it every day. He's now banned from ALL video games through the week, and can only game on the weekends when all homework is finished. Gaming turns him into a person I don't know ... he gets into an ugly mood when he's asked to turn it off. Why was this garbage invented?! Have a great weekend! Wendy

    1. That sounds like a nice goal. The video game thing can be a problem for sure. I feel the same way - my guy gets in an ugly mood after too.

      Have a great weekend too!

  5. Love your instagram photos! The first one with the table and the shaft of sunlight is great. Love all the shots of your little ones and seeing Dad bbq for the first time must have been great! I like the expression on your daughter's face as she is holding her pretty dress. So cute. I had that album (JCS) when it came out (ages me!) and I loved it! I wish your son the best at his tournament and hope you have a lovely weekend!
My plans are shopping and taking a country drive on Sunday. xx

    1. Thanks so much!

We lost last night's game by 1 point in the last few seconds. Literally there was one second left on the clock after the basket. It was a stressful one!

    1. All I know is to make sure it has a yellow patch on it, to show that it sat on the ground and ripened. Seems to work Jill! :)
