Insta-Friday in real life, New Year's edition

Simple family moments, captured on cell phone cameras. That's what Insta-Friday is about.

I always freeze my Christmas goodies. Then I defrost a little pile of stuff...every single night...after the kids go to bed. Pictured, date squares, chocolate peanut butter fudge and Sweet Marie bars (my fave).

It's finally cold and snowy...which means that my daughter insists that Jolene wear a hat and coat. She wanted to put the doggie boots on her too, but I insisted we wait for more snow for those.

Jolene has been enjoying having our whole family of four home for two weeks. She seems more relaxed and less likely to steal food from your hands. Maybe. Don't tempt her.

We celebrated New Year's Eve at my sister-in-law's house. With 10 children. Luckily they are very well behaved. Here are five out of the 10.

It was a relaxed family evening. No need to dress up. I went for comfort...which means no chance of contact lenses.

Here's my husband with one of his sisters.

And my oldest niece, in pajamas.

My sisters-in-law put together this beautifully organized veggie platter.

We walked home, with three kids (including my daughter's friend) at about 1:30 in the morning. Very responsible, huh?

Guess what? It's time to buy Christmas ornaments for next year. This whole bunch cost me less than five bucks. I don't actually need more ornaments though. But I love those little Christmas trees and the big spheres. I can hang those from the chandelier next year!

Have a great weekend everybody!

    1. I was inspired by my post-Halloween experience (of 90% off) to go hunting for a similar post-Christmas experience. ;)

  3. Looks like some fun family get togethers! I wish I could just freeze all the goodies to keep them from tempting me, but I'd break a tooth trying to eat them frozen. Sigh. They have to leave the house.

    1. Oh, believe me Ruthie, I have eaten some while they were still frozen. I caught my son stooped over the (basement) freezer one day with chocolate on his face too.

    1. She is really a patient dog...much better than we originally thought. She just turned 4 and I can't believe it!

Yes, we are lucky the kids/cousins are similar in age and occupy each other.

Luckily the Superstore didn't have too much Christmas stuff left so I couldn't buy too much! :)

Thanks for the compliment about my glasses. I am pretty much tied to them all the time - I'm blind without them!
