TV That Caters to Kids (With a Kidoodle.TV giveaway - CLOSED)

I think most parents agree that we don't want our kids to watch a ton of TV, especially when they are toddlers and preschoolers. But when you are Mom, housekeeper and cook all wrapped up into one harried package, a few age-appropriate TV programs sure do come in handy.

My kids and I had the opportunity to try out Kidoodle.TV recently. It's an online, streaming video service for children ages 12 and under. From a parent's perspective, Kidoodle.TV has several key advantages over regular television programming. Number one is that all of the content is for kids. So there's no fear that your child is going to watch anything inappropriate.

On top of that, Kidoodle.TV has no commercials, so your child isn't going to come down with a case of the "wants," a syndrome that often results after exposure to lots of advertisements for flashy toys. Kidoodle.TV's brightly coloured, easy-to-use interface allows you to create customized profiles for up to 5 children.

You can choose content based on your child’s age or on a show-by-show basis. Time limits can also be placed on viewing through the secure Parents Room, allowing you to balance the time spent on Kidoodle.TV with other family activities.

My son has really been enjoying watching all of the National Geographic options on Kidoodle.TV. He is fascinated by the real-life stories about space, nature, science and wild animals.

My daughter's favourite show to watch so far has been The Game of Life, a game show based on the popular board game.

Kidoodle.TV is also beneficial to families on the go. We were able to use the service on our recent visit to Niagara Falls, thus avoiding the cost of renting expensive movies on the hotel TV. We also didn't have to pack DVDs! Best of all, there are no sibling disputes, since each child can watch their own programs! At only $4.99/month, I think Kidoodle.TV is a convenient and affordable option for families.
