Insta-Friday in real life

This past week was a busy one, both in terms of work and our family's social schedule. While the housework was largely left undone, we sure did have a great time. Insta-Friday is all about sharing those special moments that we capture quickly using simple cell phone pics. This week I'm sneaking in a few photos from my Nikon too. I happen to have carried my camera around quite a bit.

The fun began last Thursday when the husband and I attended the Toronto celebration of the Ford Mustang's 50th anniversary. There was fabulous food and tasty, tasty drinks, as well as some cool cars hanging around. I'm by no means a car girl, but I do love that convertible Ford Mustang from the sixties we were standing next to. If I could have driven away in it...

On Friday, it was time for our friend Nigel's (above, right) birthday celebration. I'm not sure he wants me to tell his age, but let's just say he shares his birthday with the Ford Mustang.

I think we almost brought the party to a halt trying to take a photo where somebody didn't have their eyes closed. This was our most successful picture.

The next day we were off to visit my parents for Easter. I so love it when the girl child falls asleep in the car. Even if it lasts for 10 minutes. That's 10 minutes less of her asking for snacks.

For some reason I only snapped a couple of pictures at the cottage, like this one of my girl peeling a stick in front of the lake.

And this one of my brother's better half enjoying the view with a glass of wine in her hand.

On Sunday it was on to my sister-in-law's rural home to meet up with my husband's family for Easter.

My resourceful sister-in-law organized a fun scavenger hunt in the woods.

Here's a picture of the first place winners, my son and his adoring cousin.

And here's a picture of my sister-in-law negotiating because apparently the winners cheated by taking away an egg that other teams could have used.

All eight of the cousins on my husband's side. Plus the biggest, cutest dog you ever saw.

All I have to say is there's a brave woman running this household.

The table set for Easter dinner. Please note the gorgeous flower wall art. My sister-in-law pressed each and every one of those flowers and leaves herself.

After a few uneventful nights, my daughter and I went to another wonderful event. This time we were invited to the Glama Gal Tween Spa in Unionville for a special evening of pampering for my little one.

All of the women who work at Glama Gal are so sweet. My daughter came away feeling so special. She talked about her happiness with the evening all the way home. She really wants to attend their summer camp now.

And she was thrilled to meet Samantha Grecchi (aka "Stephanie") of the popular Canadian TV dance show The Next Step. She took away a signed photo of Samantha that she was proud to show to her friends at school today.

After a long, difficult winter, my goal for spring and summer is to fit in as much fun as we possibly can. And fun is on the agenda for tomorrow, when I'm meeting my sister to see Sugar Ray at the Fallsview Casino Resort. The kids will be hanging out with granny while daddy takes soccer coaching courses back at home.

What about you? Any exciting plans for the weekend?
