I Got Bitten by the Blog Bug!

The beautiful and talented Tabetha over at The Closet Intellectual very kindly nominated my wee blog for a Blog Bug! I am honoured that she would pick me. As she said in her nomination, we met via our blogs, but I could surely see myself hanging out with her in real life.

Tabetha is a history professor who lives in a small Tennessee mountain town with her husband and three teens. Be sure to check out her blog and read about her fabulous craft projects, her daily inspirations, her favourite fashions and her lovely family. Can you believe that's where she lives (above)?

Now, the rules require me to answer some questions about moi.

1.  When & why did you start blogging?

Just over a year ago, I decided to quit my communications job and begin a career as a freelance writer and communications consultant. I am pretty traditional when it comes to writing. I studied print journalism, and I like magazines, books on paper and even reading the cereal box. But, I thought it might be fun to delve into the unfamiliar world of blogging, so I could connect with others and write about things I want to write about. I have to say, I am really enjoying this process. It gives me an excuse to take pictures of absolutely everything...and to shop for thrift store bargains!

2.  What do you love to blog about, and why?

I like to blog about food, baking, thrift store finds, my kids and food. I know I said food twice, but I really am a bit obsessed with food.

3.  How did you get your blog name?

Dan in Real Life is the best movie of recent times, in my humble opinion. I have watched it probably 16 times. I love it from the very first scenes, particularly when Dan has to take a moment to ground himself before he can get out of bed to start his busy day as a single parent.

I wanted the blog to be "Joann in Real Life" (it rhymes with Dan, see?) but that name was taken, so I went with "Woman in Real Life." I kind of prefer it now, because I don't want it to be all about me. I want to hear from other women about their real lives.

4.   What do you think is your best post yet?

I can't really answer that. My last one, I guess. I have a short memory. And my daughter looks so cute in her thrifted tops.

5.  What is your inspiration for blogging at present?

I'm just so happy if people read my posts and enjoy them. I am unbelievably excited when people take the time to read and comment. And, when friends tell me they enjoy my blog, I couldn't be more thrilled.

6.  Message for your readers?

I could go mental working all alone at home if it weren't for you guys! So, thanks!

I know I'm supposed to pass the award on, but I just can't do it. I have so many blogs that I love, including Miss Tabetha's. Make sure you go check it out. And tell her Joann says hi!

    1. I love Steve Carell too! Don't you find that funny actors tend to be great at dramatic roles? Like Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting or Dead Poets Society. I could talk movies all day...
