The Benefits of Water & How To Get An Unlimited Supply of Clean, Filtered Water #StraussWaterBar

We all know how important it is to consume sufficient quantities of clean, fresh water. We are frequently advised to drink at least eight glasses of water per day. In fact, while advice and research varies, many organizations recommend that adults drink even more than eight glasses per day. The World Health Organization recommends drinking 2 to 3 litres (eight to 12 cups) of water per day.

Water makes up about 60 per cent of your body weight and is essential to your body's key functions. It helps to clear your vital organs of toxins, delivers nutrients to your cells and moistens ear, nose and throat tissues. I'm sure that most of us have experienced the side effects that a lack of water brings on - even mild dehydration can cause headaches and constipation, reduce your energy and leave you feeling zapped. This becomes more of an issue in warmer weather when we tend to perspire more. And those people who are physically active will need additional water to account for what's lost through sweat.

How Do I Ensure An Adequate Supply of Clean Water?

This is the issue, isn't it? How do I ensure that my family has a steady supply of clean, filtered water to meet our daily needs? My husband and I have been searching for a solution to our clean water dilemma for a long time. While our municipal tap water is surely tested and (hopefully) safe, our water has a distinct odour of chlorine that's not only unpleasant to smell and taste, but also makes me worry about the safety of my family.

We have lugged home countless water bottles in the past, making for an inconvenient, expensive and earth-unfriendly water experience. Plus, there is no guarantee that bottled water is cleaner than tap - in fact, it could be much less so!

Recently I attended Toronto's Green Living Show, where I was introduced to what I believe is a great option to provide my family with a steady supply of safe, filtered and good-tasting water. And it's eco-friendly too!

Strauss Water Canada's Strauss WaterBar provides water that is over 99 per cent bacteria free, yet still retains its healthy minerals (unlike distilled water). There are a number of things I found attractive about the Strauss WaterBar, the first being the physical appearance of the countertop units - they are sleek and stylish and come in a range of gorgeous, modern colours to brighten up your kitchen or office.

But perhaps the most cool thing is that the units are connected to your water supply, meaning you never have to refill a tank or a pitcher!

Features/Benefits of the Strauss WaterBar

  • unlimited, filtered water at the touch of a button
  • no need to struggle with water bottles
  • environmentally friendly
  • hot and cold water
  • more energy efficient than a kettle
  • innovative, compact and stylish
  • keeps you hydrated while maintaining essential minerals including calcium & magnesium
  • kills 99.9% of micro-organisms & bacteria and removes chlorine
  • uses an activated carbon filter, a micro-mesh filter & ultra violet light to provide safe, tasty water
The elegant Strauss WaterBars come in two models (T6 & T7), both of which deliver an unlimited supply of purified water – choose from chilled, boiling or room temperature.

Tea Lovers Take Note!

Being a tea enthusiast myself, I was delighted to discover that the Strauss WaterBar has one temperature setting for green tea and one for regular tea. The hot water temperature is set at 92-96°C – perfect for tea and coffee. If you want real boiling water, the extra hot button boosts the temperature to 99°C. Plus, in order to save on energy and household expenses, you can program the hot water to come to boiling just at your morning wake-up time. You can program your cup size too.

Safety Measures for Kids

While the units are great for older children - making it easy and fun for them to grab a quick glass of water on their own - an optional hot water child protection lock ensures that younger children don't get burned.

With over 40 years of experience in the field internationally, Strauss Water has brought their innovative products to Canada for the last few years. The company's worry-free convenience program means they deliver, install and program your unit, as well as automatically ship needed filters so you never have to run out to the store for a filter. You can rent a Strauss WaterBar for about $35 to $40 per month (depending on the model you choose) or buy your own unit.

  1. We don't drink nearly as much as we should, but we've been actively looking into filtering options to fix that! Thanks for the tip-- definitely bookmarking for future reference!

  3. I like that green! I find it a little more difficult to remember my two litres of water in the colder weather. I often have a herbal tea though to make up for it a little :)
