Insta-Friday in real life with a visit to the Ontario Science Centre

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are feeling the love today. We are celebrating in the best way possible - by ordering in sushi and following up with chocolate! (I know, I'm sushi-obsessed.)

I thoroughly cleaned the kitchen and the family room a couple of days ago so we can enjoy our little family party in a nice environment. I hung up the heart garland the kids and I made last year. As you can see I have not taken down the giant Christmas ornaments hanging on the light fixture either. I just like them. So I'm keeping 'em.

We have to make the best of things. The snow isn't going anywhere. In fact, it just keeps piling up at the end of our driveway.

The upside of snow - the snow day. Me and this guy hung out watching movies on the last snow day. The little gal asked her dad to drive her to school so she could be with her friends. (School buses were cancelled but the schools were still open.)

I put the fireplace on for Jolene that day. I often put it on just for her because she loves it so much. What a life she leads.

She watched me clean the kitchen the other day. If only she could help out. Her eyes kept drifting shut but they'd snap open again if I came close. She's a sweet little companion. (We also think she may have narcolepsy.)

Last Saturday, we went to a media, friends and family event at the Ontario Science Centre. We hadn't been there since the kids were much smaller. It brought back some nice memories. And there are lots of fun activities for people of any age to enjoy.

A nice scientist taught us to make high-functioning paper airplanes, for example.

And she gave the kids permission to fly the airplanes off the staircase, narrowly missing passersby. They really enjoyed that as you can imagine.

They also made their own paper. How cool is that? I want to do this at home!

They tried on some new facial features too.

And we visited Sesame Street - in the form of the Sesame Street Presents: The Body exhibit. It's really meant for smaller kids, but we all enjoyed having a look anyway.

We are looking forward to a long weekend, as we celebrate Family Day in Ontario this Monday. Have a special Valentine's Day and a wonderful weekend!

Any Valentine's Day plans?

  2. LOVE that heart garland!

Our V-day plans are put on hold. My in-laws are snowed in so they won't be able to watch Ruby. Instead we are probably going to watch House of Cards on Netflix!

    1. Thanks Laurie!

What a shame you had to scrap your plans. :( But I hear House of Cards is good. :)

  3. Ha! I'm currently sitting on the floor since the beagle, the terrier and the chihuahua are occupying the couch and chair. Dogs have it so rough when it snows... Looks like a good time was had by all at the Science Center (and glad you were able to get out and about)!

    1. Yes, they had fun with that. And there were little tiny kids at the bottom grabbing the planes. So cute. :)
