5 Healthy Vegan Smoothies

With the focus clearly on healthy living at this time of year, I thought I'd review some of my personal favourite smoothie recipes from Woman in Real Life's archives. As you know, smoothies are a quick, healthy option for busy mornings, afternoon snacks and even post-dinner treats.

Smoothies are great for kids and adults alike, because you can sneak in veggies and then sweeten them up with fruit. Some of these smoothies are straight out sweet and delicious, while others are higher on the healthy quotient with added greens but enough fruit that they are still quite tasty. Click on the titles for the recipes.

Cherry Lemonade Smoothie

This Cherry Lemonade Smoothie is a favourite of mine. It makes use of frozen cherries for those times when cherries aren't readily available or are too expensive. The other ingredients are kiwi, lemonade, almond milk and agave nectar.

Pink Pear Smoothie

I created this Pink Pear Smoothie for my son after he requested a "pink" smoothie one day. This recipe did the trick, with banana, strawberries, raspberries and orange juice. And I was able to use up some pears that were going soft on the counter. No non-dairy milk required for this one. Just fruit and juice.

Pre-Gym Raspberry Smoothie

Another fruity smoothie, the Pre-Gym Raspberry Smoothie has fueled many a workout for me. It includes juice, non-dairy milk, fruit, protein powder and DHA, so it's a little meal in a glass!

Pineapple Spinach Smoothie

If you like greens in your smoothie, this might be the recipe for you. It includes a handful of spinach for added nutrients, along with pineapple, banana, strawberries and apple. No non-dairy milk, just orange juice.

A "Greenish" Smoothie

I call this one A Greenish Smoothie because it's not super-green. Many people can't stomach a really green smoothie. This one has kale, but also a clementine, a banana and strawberries. I add a scoop of pumpkin protein powder and a mix of juice and non-dairy milk.

How about you? Are you a smoothie lover? What's your favourite smoothie ingredient?

  1. I always have banana in smoothies to help thicken it, or a handful of oats if the smoothie is too runny. In hot weather I put in frozen banana. Lately my favourite smoothie is banana, a vegan milk, raw cacao powder, hemp protein and tahini :)

    1. I like to include a banana often too for thickness. I haven't tried oats yet or raw cacao. I can always count on you for some good ideas!

  3. Ahh, they look amazing! I wonder though, whether I like the pink one because of the ingredients or because of its color;-)) M.b. BOTH!;-)
