Father's Day

Shhh...don't tell my husband about this post. He really doesn't like to be featured on the blog. What can I do? I have to share some Father's Day pics. Like the kids delivering Daddy's breakfast tray, above. He clearly wasn't sleeping, but rather taking some time for his favourite hobby - playing guitar. Notice Jolene the dog on the right. She made some strong attempts at getting the food from the tray.

Dad got fluffy vegan pancakes with blueberries, beans and a fruit plate.

In addition to the books I wrote about previously, my husband got a few goodies for Father's Day. Inspired by Angie's Snack & Surf Kit, I created a similar kit, replacing the drink container with a couple of cans of beer. I also included jars of pretzels, candies, chocolates and snack mixes. I had some trouble finding a movie for him because we already own most of the ones we like.

I chose "Bad Teacher," not because my husband's a bad teacher, but because I actually think it's a really funny movie. Which surprises me, because I'm not a big Cameron Diaz fan.

Notice the hands dipping into Dad's snack kit?

He also got a new Jimi Hendrix t-shirt.

Of course, the best gifts are the homemade tidbits the kids bring home from school. I could tell my son was a bit disappointed that his class doesn't do Father's Day gifts. I told him to round up some of his wonderful drawings to give Dad.

Jolene enjoyed the family time in bed.

Daddy's final gift was this "star dad" craft that my daughter sewed on Father's Day morning. All her idea. Cute, eh?

How did you spend Father's Day?

  2. Lovely! I like the idea of the Dad snack box, although my husband has a small sized wine fridge full of his own chocolate so that's more than enough 'snack box'! Fathers Day down here is in September :)

  7. I saw your link on Angie's blog and wanted to see what your version of the snack box was. It looks so cute and seems like something my husband would go for too - beer and treats. I'll have to keep that in mind for another holiday. I made a memory box for my husband for Father's Day which he really liked (http://gracie-senseandsimplicity.blogspot.ca/2013/06/fathers-day-memory-box.html).
