Insta-Friday in real life

I'm late with my Insta-Friday post today. In fact, I was so busy this week that I took very few cell phone photos. I just went around the house taking a few now. Kind of cheating, I know.

The new Target store in our area opened this week. The chain is brand new to Canada and I was pretty excited because I have seen the great things my American blogger friends have bought in the past. I forgot my phone though, so I just now snapped a pic of the two dresses I bought. They are the black and white striped one and the blue striped one, above. Target has cute summer spring dresses for $30 to $35. I'm not sure how that compares to their American prices. Let me know, if you know.

After my shopping expedition, I stopped at the nearby sushi shop for lunch. Shopping sure makes a girl hungry.

My husband has also been busy this week. What with work and the household things that crop up. He helped my daughter make a catapult for a school assignment.

He made chocolate chip cookies, which I enjoyed with my regular evening decaf green tea.

He fixed the "baby" gate at the top of the stairs. The kids swing on it and break it. We need it because Jolene the beagle mix goes upstairs and eats random items, like discarded tissue, garbage and even underwear. Gross. Between the kids and the dog a person could go mental sometimes.

He sorted more items onto the bookshelves he built. The records are done and the dvds are almost finished. We like to alphabetize in this house.

While I was in the basement taking a picture of the bookshelf, this happened upstairs in the family room. That crooked picture is supposed to have another picture above it. It's on the floor instead and there are pieces of the wood frame beside it. Another thing for my husband to fix. The culprit ran away. She just caught me putting the picture on the blog too. She says I'm "so mean." But she says that every day. I've become immune.

Another weekend basketball tournament. We have to be up at about 6:30 tomorrow. That's just cruel.

What are you doing this weekend? Have a good one friends!

  1. Bwahaha love the last photo! Target is pretty big here and in the last few years or so they've really stepped up designs. When I was younger Target was seen more as a 'cheap' shop but some of their stuff now is beautiful, well made and definitely not cheap!

    1. I didn't know that you have Target there. What took them so long to come to Canada? ;) I have seen ads for "designer" clothing and home lines at Target. A couple of times I was tempted to go cross border shopping for them. Now I won't have to. :)

  2. Yay! Target! As an employee for the past 15 years I hope you enjoy it! I am a big fan of that blue stripe dress you bought. (It's about the same price here)

    1. Target is lucky to have you Laurie. And thanks for the pricing information right from a Target employee. Good to know I can buy at home instead of heading to Buffalo for better prices.

  3. I was at the Target in Guelph a couple of weeks ago, I was disappointed, I didn't think it had the variety of goods that the American stores do.

  4. Oh, I can sympathize! There is never a dull moment with little ones, dogs and all that goes on! Such a nice Husband to cook and build school projects and repair and organize. I do love your little dresses, so cute! I want to check out the new Target home-goods line, called 'Threshold'. I have seen it advertised in the magazines this month. Maybe something you might need for your photo frame replacement! :( Hang in there. It all goes by faster than you think! xoxo

    1. Thanks Karen. There are some days we struggle around here, but I do realize I will miss it one day. I wouldn't really have it any other way (although I wouldn't mind if they help me clean up a bit). ;)

  5. 6:30 for basketball does seem excessively cruel. Aren't they in doors? We have to get up that early for cross country races in order to avoid the afternoon heat so while I deeply resent it, there is a certain amount of logic to it. The things we do for our children. And dogs. What is it with beagles and underwear? We have the same problem. Sigh.
Sounds like your Target prices are the same as ours! I love ours!

    1. Yes, it's indoors. I guess they have to fit in a bunch of teams so they go all day. It's a tournament with lots of visiting teams. We are back again tomorrow, not as early. I can see you wouldn't want the kids to race in the heat. Hard to believe it will be hot soon, with all this snow hanging around though. Oh, the underwear thing is so annoying!! Beagles will eat anything won't they? Really. Another Target fan, huh? It must be good!

  6. Sympathise about your early start - my daughter swims so we were at the pool for 5.30am this morning, now ready for bed!

I have heard so much about Target and can't wait to see for myself.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    1. Oh yes, I have heard that swimming is even earlier. And hockey too! So I should be thankful for our start time...I guess. ;) Enjoy your weekend too Kate.

  7. Oh, you're a mean mom too? Glad to be in such great company! lol!

Also, what is it about underwear that dogs love so much?? :)

    Have a great week!

    1. I am indeed (a mean mom) Julee. We should start a club or something.

Oh, I don't know. The underwear thing is just so disgusting.

Have a wonderful week too my friend.
