Insta-Friday in real life, a week with the kids edition

Happy Friday! Are you looking forward to the weekend?

I have had an interesting week. My son stayed home with me one day when his class went tubing. He didn't want to go tubing for an entire day.

Unfortunately, the trip fell on a day when he had lost his TV and iPod privileges. This was the result, above.

I tried to do some of my freelance writing work, but he spent a good long time in the chair beside me, playing with a wire and making repetitive noises.

So, I figured the work could wait. I don't often get time alone with my boy. I enlisted him to help me make banana bread. He wasn't thrilled with the over-ripe bananas as you can clearly see.

He is pretty meticulous though and he does a nice job baking.

The very next day was a snow day and BOTH kids stayed home. Well, I guess my work can wait...again. Good thing I didn't have any strict deadlines.

My girl read to me from a sushi cookbook.

She also caught up on her homework. She decided to work out her math on the Wii uDraw. Whatever works.

As I mentioned in yesterday's book review post, she also had a tea party with her dolls using our cute crafted doughnuts.

Yesterday morning we were greeted by a bit of a winter wonderland scene.

I took some pictures while Jolene dragged me slip-sliding through the park. I know I'm repeating myself, but I've really had enough of winter.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody! I'll be watching another of my son's basketball games and doing some laundry. Oh, the excitement never ends!

  1. I remember when my kids were younger and I would try to get work done and they would torment me!
Those days are gone now...I wouldn't mind bringing them back, sometimes!

  4. My son was home sick once and we spent the entire day on his bed folding origami paper into creatures. I look back on that day as one of my favourites ... just him and me with no interruptions. So peaceful. I also love having my kids bake with me :) Have a great weekend ... remember to bundle up!! Wendy

  5. I have spent lots of days with sick children at home, trying to juggle working - never easy, but always glad I could be there with them rather than having to go into the office.

Really fed up with this winter too - spring can't come too soon for me!

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Thanks so much!

The snow wasn't too bad. Sometimes the forecast is worse than the actual event. :)

      Take care,
